The Integrated Student and Youth Initiative empower students and community youth to make impacts and bring social change by themselves with their ideas, innovations and social good solutions.

With our networks spread across the country, we mentor, champion and amplify social change driven by young people. We are a diverse community made up of different cultures, ethnicity, beliefs, and backgrounds spearheading social change that is critical to the health and well-being of all, especially women, children, and youth.

I joined the network in 2017 as the project lead in my university, Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) to raise awareness about the health implications of FGM and to promote human rights. Since then till now, with their financial support, we have reached over 50000 people on campus and the neighbouring communities. I look forward to greater heights and impact in future.

Mr. Lawrence Urakpa / FUTO

I was subjected to female genital mutilation at a very young age, and at such a young age I had no idea what the implications are. But today I know, and sometimes I feel scared about it. I wish I could undue it, but I know that I can’t even if I want to. Through this network, I have come to terms with my life and I am bold to face the reality of my life. Their message and intervention programs have given me hope that I can still live happier and better like everyone else. I am speaking out against this practice in solidarity with the Integrated Student and Youth Initiative. No more girls would have to undergo this harmful practice; it should end now.
